- Today
They came in wanting fast food. They left with something better.
When most people come to me, they've already decided what kind of franchise they want. Fast food. A retail shop. Something they can picture.
I get it. Those are the ones you see every day. They feel familiar, which makes them feel safe.
But familiar is not always the right fit.
I worked with a couple recently who were convinced they wanted something with a physical location. Made sense on paper. Then we started talking about their actual life. What they wanted more of. What they were trying to get away from.
The picture changed pretty fast.
Managing a storefront, the staffing, the hours, the overhead... none of it lined up with why they wanted out of corporate in the first place.
So we took a different direction. Looked at things they had not considered. Bumble Bee Blinds came up. Home services model, flexible schedule, strong margins, low overhead. Not glamorous.
Not what they imagined. But it fit their life.
They went with it.
That is what I see most often. The right answer is rarely the obvious one. It usually shows up after a candid conversation about what someone actually wants their day to look like three years from now.
If you have not thought through that part yet, that is exactly where I start.
Happy to have that conversation whenever you are ready.
